The web went crazy after Caitlyn Clausen, a decorator at the Night Kitchen Bakery in Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania, posted a photo of her enchanting creation online last week.”I’m a huge Harry Potter fan, so making this cake was always in the back of my mind,” Clausen told HuffPost. “I think the golden snitch is really beautiful and I wanted to incorporate that somehow.”
Clausen finally got the chance to create and display the fondant-coated confection of her dreams for the town’s annual Harry Potter festival.
When she posted a photo of the cake to a Harry Potter fan page, it racked up thousands of likes and comments faster than you can say alohomora.
“People shared it over and over because the fan base is just super passionate!” Clausen said.
The bakery has since fielded countless requests and emails from people across the country asking her to recreate the cake.
And just in case a request comes in from a pair of Potter lovers looking to add a little extra magic on their wedding day, Clausen has some ideas for how she’d change the design to make it more nuptial-friendly.
“If it were for a wedding, I’d probably change the color scheme a bit to make it more classy and wedding-y,” she said. “Maybe another color palette if they wanted that.”
